We're fortunate in the US, to have diverse ethnic and religious groups. Each gives us unique holiday traditions and cultural observances to enjoy. That's particularly true around the winter holidays. I suggest having kids find friends or neighbors who celebrate different holidays. Make cards for them. This makes a good social studies lesson. It expands students' world view.
